Choosing the Right Heavy-Duty Jumper Lead
Heavy-duty starting depends on the complete cable assembly—not the connector or cable size alone. Start with the equipment at both ends, then confirm the required connector configuration, cable size, length and system voltage on the individual product page.
Match the Connection at Both Ends
The collection covers four connection paths. Anderson-to-clamp and CAT-to-clamp leads connect compatible jump-start equipment to battery terminals. CAT-to-CAT and NATO-to-NATO assemblies are intended for equipment with the corresponding receptacles.
These interfaces are not interchangeable, so identify both connection points before choosing a lead.
Select the Correct Cable Size
The live range includes 50 mm² HYPASTART Anderson-to-clamp leads, 70 mm² HYPASTART CAT leads and 95 mm² T-Rex assemblies.
Cable size must be considered alongside starting-current requirements, cable length, connector rating and the equipment manufacturer’s specifications. Do not assume the largest conductor is automatically correct for every system.
Choose the Required Length
Select the shortest practical lead that still provides suitable access to the connection points. HYPASTART options in this collection are available in 1.5 m and 3 m, while the T-Rex leads are offered in 3 m and 6 m.
Greater length can improve access around trucks and machinery, but it also adds resistance and potential voltage drop.
Confirm Voltage and Equipment Compatibility
The T-Rex cable pages specify 12V/24V use and target professional jump starting, fleet, mining, heavy-vehicle, field-service and defence applications, depending on the configuration.
HYPASTART cables are listed for the Durst HYPASTART range, but compatibility must still be confirmed against the exact jump starter, receptacle and starting system.
Check Before Ordering
Compare the connector at each end, required reach and individual product specifications before ordering. If the equipment uses an unfamiliar receptacle or the correct assembly is unclear, contact Durst with the jump starter model, equipment type, system voltage and photos of both connection points.
