T-Rex BJT-520B Jump Starter (12/24V Heavy-Duty)
The T-Rex BJT-520B is a high-capacity mobile jump starter designed to crank large engines on 12-volt or 24-volt systems and also serves as a powerful Ground Power Unit. Built into a robust steel trolley (approx. 260 kg) with four pneumatic wheels and a push handle, it’s made for heavy-duty use in mining sites, construction yards, military bases, and other demanding environments. This unit delivers massive cranking power for starting trucks, buses, heavy machinery, and even aviation or defense vehicles with dead batteries. It also features dual-voltage operation (selectable 12/24V), built-in safety protections (reverse polarity alarm, anti-spike circuitry, internal fusing), and a durable powder-coated enclosure for reliable performance in tough conditions.
Key Performance Specs:
- Cranking Amps (CA): 5,400 @12V / 2,700 @24V
- Cold Cranking Amps (CCA): 4,800 @12V / 2,400 @24V
- Peak Amps (PA): 24,000 @12V / 12,000 @24V
Available Configurations
The BJT-520B is available in three model variations, each equipped with a different output connector to suit various applications:
- BJT-520B-A – with Anderson port: This model features an Anderson-style output port, allowing connection via heavy-duty Anderson plug leads. It’s ideal for vehicles or equipment that use Anderson connectors for jump starting, providing a secure high-current connection.
- BJT-520B-C – with CAT receptacle: This model includes a Caterpillar (CAT) two-pin jump-start receptacle, which mates with CAT-style connectors commonly found on earthmoving and mining equipment. It is designed for direct interface with CAT heavy machinery for quick boost starts.
- BJT-520B-N – with NATO socket: This model is fitted with a NATO standard slave socket (24V military jump-start connector). It’s geared toward defense and emergency vehicles, allowing the unit to plug into NATO slave cables for rapid starting of military trucks or specialized equipment.
Lead Set Options
Each configuration uses specific detachable “slave” lead sets to connect the jump starter to the vehicle. The compatible lead sets for each BJT-520B model are:
- BJT-520B-A (Anderson port): Uses LS-3AL-95 and LS-6AL-95 lead sets. These are 3 m and 6 m heavy-duty cable sets (95 mm² conductor) with an Anderson plug on one end and high-current battery clamps on the other.
- BJT-520B-C (CAT receptacle): Uses LS-3CC-70 and LS-6CC-70 lead sets. These cable sets (3 m and 6 m lengths) have Caterpillar two-pin connectors on both ends (70 mm² cable), allowing a direct CAT-to-CAT connection between the jump starter and the equipment’s CAT port.
- BJT-520B-N (NATO socket): Uses LS-3NN-95 and LS-6NN-95 lead sets. These are 3 m and 6 m NATO standard slave cables (95 mm²) with NATO plug connectors on both ends, to connect the jump starter to a vehicle’s NATO slave receptacle.
